Scott McDaniel

Scott has a broad range of experience in assisting clients faced with legal claims, distinguishing himself as a first-chair trial lawyer, as well as an effective advocate in alternative forms of dispute resolution. Scott is a senior trial lawyer, who has developed an impressive track record of success in both state and federal courts representing businesses large and small as well as individuals. Scott has gained lead lawyer status in a number of complex cases involving joint defense groups by virtue of his analytical, advocacy and leadership skills. His maturity and skill has been recognized by the judiciary by virtue of his appointment to the post of Adjunct Settlement Judge by the judges of the federal and state courts in Tulsa. Scott is a Mediator certified by the Institute for Conflict Management, and has earned an A-V® Rating from Martindale Hubbell evidencing his high level of ethics and competence.

Scott practiced civil engineering for eleven years before commencing his legal career, and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Oklahoma (Retired) and North Carolina (Retired). His engineering background has proven invaluable in complex and technical matters, including managing litigation experts, in mounting Daubert challenges to opposing experts, and in his representation of design professionals, builders, energy companies, transportation companies, and product manufacturers.

Scott graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1981, and graduated at the top of his class from the University of Tulsa College of Law. While in law school, Scott was recognized as the 1L Student of the Year, was awarded the Order of the Curule Chair, and served as the Managing Editor of the Tulsa Law Journal. Scott was employed as a Project Civil Engineer on a nuclear power construction project for the Tennessee Valley Authority for four years before he opened his own engineering consulting and general contracting businesses in North Carolina. Scott’s legal career includes five years as an associate lawyer with Gardere & Wynne, L.L.P. of Dallas, Texas, and as co-founder and equity member of the former Joyce, Paul & McDaniel firm. Since 1999, Scott has served as an elected Member of the Board of Education for Union Public Schools, Oklahoma’s eighth largest district. Scott’s additional work in the community includes service on the Boards of Directors of the Oklahoma Committee to Prevent Child Abuse, the Union Public Schools Education Foundation, the John 3:16 Mission, Inc. and CAAIR, Inc. He is admitted to the Bars of Oklahoma and Arkansas, as well as all of the federal courts in Oklahoma, Arkansas and the Cherokee Nation Tribal Court, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Federal Court of Claims, and the United States Supreme Court. He is a Member of the Defense Research Institute, the Transportation Lawyers Association, the Professional Liability Underwriters Society, the Professional Liability Defense Federation, and the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance.
